Can Coronavirus infection be transmitted through mosquito or tick bites?

Coronavirus mainly spreads through droplets when the infected person coughs or sneezes. It also spreads when we touch contaminated objects and touch our nose, eyes or mouth. As Coronavirus was also isolated from stools, improper handwashing after using the restroom may also spread the infection. There is a possibility of airborne spread, especially in a healthcare setting.

So far, there are no cases where Coronavirus spread through mosquito bites. For a mosquito to function as a vector, ingested virus should be able to replicate in its saliva. There is no evidence that Coronaviruses, including Severe Acute Respiratory Sydrome (SARS) coronavirus or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus are transmitted through mosquito bite.

Similarly, there is no evidence that tick bites can spread Novel Coronavirus infection. Mosquitoes and ticks do not have the capability of spreading every virus out there. In fact, some viruses may even make mosquitoes sick. World Health Organization also clarified that Novel Coronavirus does not spread through mosquito bite or tick bite.
